A link between Vaccines and Autism?

There is a great debate currently unfolding in the U.S., and it centered on the link between childhood vaccines and the development of Autism.

Many scientists and drug companies (who make the vaccines) claim that vaccines do not cause Autism in children. In stark counterpoint, many consumer organizations claim to have solid evidence that vaccines do indeed cause Autism in children.

According to a spokesperson for the National Vaccine Information Center, the rise in Autism cases can be directly correlated to the increased number of vaccines given to our children. In the recent past, the administration of vaccines to children has nearly doubled. At the same time, our nation experienced a nearly 50 percent rise in children diagnoses with learning disabilities and asthma. Plus, we’ve seen cases of childhood diabetes triple and in every state Autism has increased by 200 to 7,000 percent. These are big numbers that deserve big attention. But money stands in the way of settling this debate, as many federal grants have not been renewed to continue research on this vital topic.

So what can you do as a parent to protect your children? Learn more about the research that has already been conducted in the field of vaccinations. Visit the National Vaccine Information Center at http://www.909shot.com/ for the latest news and information.

When is the right time to stop getting adjusted?

If chiropractic adjustments have made your aches and pains disappear—it’s vital that you continue getting adjusted on a regular basis! Just because your symptoms have gone away does not mean that the misalignment in your spine has been fully corrected. Nor is it a guarantee that the pain will not return should you stop receiving maintenance adjustments.

Just as braces move teeth into proper position, chiropractic adjustments move vertebrae back into proper alignment over time—but regular maintenance is required to help maintain the desired results. If a patient of orthodontics does not wear a retainer after the braces come off, over time the teeth will move out of proper alignment. The same principle holds true to maintaining the proper alignment of the delicate spine.

Furthermore, Doctors of Chiropractic are trained to detect problem areas in your spine before they develop into aches, pains and health problems. Think of it as preventive maintenance that will help keep your body functioning at maximum capacity.

Is a popping sound normal during an adjustment?

As a patient of chiropractic care, you’ve most likely experienced an audible popping or cracking sound the moment particular areas of your spine receive a spinal adjustment. But what causes this sound? Is it normal? And should it be heard with every adjustment?

The noise you hear is not coming from the spinal bones that are being adjusted; rather the sound comes from synovial fluid, a natural lubricant that is found in every joint in the body. This fluid contains dissolved gasses that have formed tiny bubbles within the fluid.

During a chiropractic adjustment vertebral joints are slightly separated as the vertebra is moved back into proper position. This movement releases the built-up pressure on the fluid and gasses within the joint and creates a “pop” similar to the release of pressure when a cork comes off a bottle of champagne. It is a natural process and not harmful in any way.

Not all adjustment techniques produce a popping noise, so it is impossible to judge the quality of a chiropractic adjustment based upon the noise, or lack of noise, created at the time of adjustment.

A Cure for Colic

Being the parent of an infant is a wonderful privilege, but if your baby suffers from colic your new found joy may quickly be replaced with feelings of helplessness and frustration.

Symptoms of colic in an otherwise healthy baby are described as periods of prolonged irritability, fussiness and inconsolable crying that lasts at least three hours a day, at least three days a week. While nearly all infants experience times of unexplained fussiness, colic escalates “fussiness” to a whole new level.

The good news is that colic is very treatable through gentle chiropractic adjustments.

In a study of healthy babies who were diagnosed with colic, chiropractic adjustments were administered to correct misalignments in the infant’s spines. After just two weeks of chiropractic treatment, 94 percent of parents reported that their infants experienced fewer episodes of inconsolable crying and irritability. Of these babies, over fifty percent of them had been previously treated with medication to alleviate the symptoms of colic, but to no avail.
In another study, over 90 percent of the infants experienced a major decline in episodes of colic after just two chiropractic adjustments.

The root of colic behavior can be traced back to the birthing process. As the baby is being born it experiences tremendous pressure and strain on the neck and spine. A prolonged time of “pushing” or extraction with forceps or vacuum multiplies the pressure placed on the baby’s delicate spinal column. During this time it is common for vertebrae in the neck and back to shift out of place, causing pain and discomfort (as well as a plethora of other health issues) that provokes a baby to become irritable, fussy and cry for hours on end.

The good news is that through simple and gentle chiropractic adjustments, an infant’s spine can be realigned, delivering much needed relief to both baby and parent.

It’s never too early to have your child checked and adjusted for misalignments in the spine. It’s a healthy practice that will help your child grow and develop to their fullest potential.

Sleep Better with Hops

A German study found that Hops is proven to have sedative effects. Hops is widely used to treat tenseness, restlessness, and sleep disorders. Hops extracts have been combined with herbs such as valerian to induce sleep and with passion flower to produce sedation.

he authors conducted experiments to determine the sedating activity of ethanolic and CO2 extracts of hops. They found that body temperature fell (indicates sedation) in subjects given Hops

Do Vaccines cause Autism?

Scientists believe they have found a direct link between childhood vaccinations and autism, asthma and ADHD!

These shocking results come from a Generation Rescue study released in June 2007. The research, privately funded without ties to the pharmaceutical industry or the medical community, included an extensive interview of 17,674 vaccinated and unvaccinated children.

When compared to non-vaccinated boys in the same age group, researchers found the following statistics:

- Vaccinated boys age 4-17 are 155 percent more likely to have neurological disorders, are 224 percent more likely to have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and 61 percent more likely to have autism.

- Vaccinated older boys, in the age range of 11 to 17, were found to be even more susceptible to autism. They are 158 percent more likely to have a neurological disorder, 317 percent more likely to have ADHD, and 112 percent more likely to have autism.

- Vaccinated boys were 224 percent more likely to develop ADHD.

- Vaccinated boys and girls were 120 percent more likely to develop asthma.

Younger boys that have been vaccinated show less symptoms of autism, however researchers believe that these lower numbers will rise over time as professionals are more able to accurately diagnose the early symptoms of autism in younger children.

Scientists who conducted the study now believe that the mercury found in routine childhood immunizations plays a major role in the ten-fold increase in autism cases over the past two decades.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1 in every 150 children will develop autism.

Cold Medicine can be deadly for small children

A 2007 announcement from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) warns parents to avoid giving their babies and toddlers over-the-counter cold medicine and cough syrup without first consulting a physician.

Results from a two-year study found that over 1,500 babies and toddlers were rushed to hospital emergency rooms with health threatening reactions to common cold medications designed for small children. Sparking this investigation was the 2005 deaths of three infants who were found to have up to 14 times the recommended amount of cold medicine in their systems.

The problem is that it’s very difficult to regulate a safe medication dosage for children so young and small. The CDC currently has no dosing recommendations for children under age two.

So what is the best method for helping an infant or toddler fight a cold? The chiropractic community suggests that all infants and toddlers receive a spinal examination and chiropractic adjustments. These gentle chiropractic adjustments relieve misalignments in the spine allowing the immune system to function at maximum capacity, thus quickly and naturally fighting off sickness.

Is your child in pain?

Did you know there is a direct correlation between your child’s health, and the health of their spine? In a 2004 study of 650 children--323 girls and 327 boys--researchers found that pelvic subluxation, or misalignment of the lower spine, promoted a rash of aches, pains and other symptoms kids commonly experience while growing up.

Each child in the study received a full physical examination, x-rays and surface EMG and thermography test. The results were as follows:

- 96 percent of the children examined had pelvic subluxations.

- Common physical complaints included low back and neck pain, numbness of limbs, pain in limbs, sinus problems, headaches, dizziness, stomach problems, bed-wetting, constipation, diarrhea, asthma, fatigue, colic, and croup.

- Common behavioral concerns included memory and sleeping problems, ADHD, learning difficulties, and elevated temper.

- Common immune system complaints included ear infections, fever, acne and throat complaints such as Strep, tonsillitis and soreness were also noted.

Why did so many children share the same health complaints? Because a misaligned spine causes surrounding muscles to move out of normal position in an effort to correct the misalignment. In doing so, both the subluxation and the over-adjusted muscle cause signals from the brain, traveling through the nervous system in the spine, to be partially or totally blocked. In turn, normal body processes become impaired, health problems begin to immerge and symptoms—like those address above—become present.

How can you correct these harmful childhood subuxations? Seek a spine evaluation and Chiropractic adjustments as soon as possible.

  • Increase your fiber intake by eating more vegetables (steamed or raw)
  • Eat 8oz. of lean protein each day
  • Wean off coffee. Get down to one cup or none each day.
